Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30-08-2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Doc Scanner - Edit PDF & Doc (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information when you use the mobile application (the “App”). The App lets you scan documents with your camera, open and edit PDF files stored on your device, sign documents, and add clickable links to areas of a PDF.
The short version. Your documents stay on your device. We do not upload, read, store, or sell the documents you scan, open, edit, or sign. We collect a limited amount of technical and diagnostic information to keep the App working and to fix crashes. We do not require an account to use the App.
1. Who we are
The App is provided by WRT Infotech. For any privacy question, contact us at support@wrtinfotech.com. We just control the information described below.
2. Information you give us
Documents, scans, and files
When you scan a page, import a PDF, edit it, add a signature, or attach a link to part of a document, that file is processed on your device and saved to your device storage or to a location you choose. We do not have access to these files. We do not transmit them to our servers, and we cannot recover them if you delete them or lose your device.
Signatures
Signature images you draw, type, or import are stored locally on your device so you can reuse them. You can delete a saved signature at any time from within the App. Signatures are not sent to us.
Links you add to documents
When you make a region of a PDF clickable, the URL you enter is written into that PDF file on your device. We do not collect, validate, monitor, or visit those URLs.
Support correspondence
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message, including any screenshots or files you attach. We use this only to answer you, and we delete support threads once they are resolved and no longer needed.
3. Information collected automatically
To keep the App stable and understand which features are used, we and our service providers may collect:
- Device and technical data — device model, operating system version, App version, language, and screen configuration.
- Diagnostics and crash reports — the state of the App when it crashed, including stack traces and performance data. Crash reports describe the App’s code, not the contents of your documents.
- Usage events — anonymous counts of actions such as “scan completed” or “PDF exported”, used to decide what to improve. These events do not include file names or file contents.
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your browsing history, or the contents of other apps.
4. Device permissions
The App asks for the permissions below only when a feature needs them. You can refuse or later revoke any permission in your device settings; the related feature will stop working, but the rest of the App will continue to function.
| Permission | Why the App needs it |
|---|---|
| Camera | To capture pages when you scan a document. The camera preview is not recorded and no image is taken until you tap the shutter. |
| Photos / media / file access | To let you import an existing image or PDF for editing, and to save your finished document back to your device. |
| Storage (Android) | To read the PDF you select and write the edited copy to the folder you choose. |
| Notifications | Optional. To tell you when a long export or batch scan has finished. |
| Internet | For crash reporting, purchases, and opening a link you tap inside a document. |
5. How we use information
- To provide the scanning, editing, signing, and link-annotation features you request.
- To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance and stability.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms and Conditions.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the App and your purchases), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and improving the App), your consent (optional analytics and notifications, where required), and compliance with legal obligations.
6. Third-party services
We use a small number of third-party providers who process limited data on our behalf. Each has its own privacy policy:
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and stability reporting.
- Google Analytics for Firebase — anonymous usage statistics.
- Google AdMob — serving advertisements. Ad providers may use device identifiers to limit repeat ads and measure performance. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device settings.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
7. When we may disclose information
- Service providers — the vendors listed above, limited to what they need to perform their function.
- Legal requirements — where we must comply with a valid law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or of Doc Scanner - Edit PDF & Doc.
- Business transfers — if Doc Scanner - Edit PDF & Doc is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer to the successor entity under this Policy.
Because your documents never reach our servers, we cannot disclose them to anyone, including in response to a legal request.
8. Data retention
Documents, scans, and signatures stay on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App. Diagnostic and analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted or aggregated. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve your request.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the limited data we hold, including encryption in transit. Because your files remain on your device, their security also depends on your device: we recommend you use a screen lock and keep your operating system up to date. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Most of these rights you can exercise directly: your documents are under your control on your device, and you can delete them at any time. For the diagnostic data we hold, write to support@wrtinfotech.com and we will respond within the period required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. The categories we collect are identifiers (device identifiers), internet activity (in-app usage events), and commercial information (purchase records), as described in Sections 3 and 6.
11. International transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
12. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets a higher age), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact support@wrtinfotech.com and we will delete it.
13. Links inside documents
The App lets you add clickable links to a PDF, and lets you open links that you or someone else has placed in a document. Tapping a link may open your browser or another app. We do not control those destinations and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Review any link before you follow it.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as the App changes or as the law requires. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will notify you in the App or on the store listing before they take effect. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
